If you still are wondering (or care) how to do the Japanese t-shirt folding featured previously. Here’s a slower version in Chinese. Suddenly, it all becomes clear…

A commenter called nabinabita had this to say:
It is an idea in Japan.
Japan imported ” the T shirt ” from the Europe and America.
Japan exported ” an idea ” to the country in the foreign country.
I am glad.
Popularize ” the idea in Japan ” more.

Cool.

I swear this chair must break the laws of physics. The big question thoush is “Is it questionable?”. Ha, I AM tired. Let’s try that sentence again… The big question though is “Is it comfortable?” I think thoush needs to become a word.

Much like this these AMAZING Fletcher Capstan Tables [via BoingBoing] and this freaky walking table:

Studio Daily has links to a couple of wonderful Flash animations in an interview with Darren Price from Nexus Productions (you have to scroll down the article to get the video links - sorry won’t let me legally embed!). First there is Potapych: The Bear Who Loved Vodka which is a beautifully animated and quite sad little story about a drunk who adopts a bear and teaches him how to drink. Apparently based on a true story.

bears who like vodka

And Hare in the Gate, an amazing piece of animation featuring a hare/rabbit who travels through a myriad of cinematic genres and iconic scenes. It was for a Motorola ad and is somewhat mindblowingly wonderful. Unfortunately, I don’t think the ad made it downunder.

I’m finally catching up on the extended DVDs of the Lord of Rings. I actually sat through the marathon of the 3 normal length ones when the third one came out, from memory I think it started at 9pm and went until 7am the next day. It was brilliant, but horrible getting home afterwards. I was planning to do a marathon of the extended versions but it didn’t really happen, I’m part way through the first disc of third part now. During the second part, I had this annoying half song playing in my head but I couldn’t put my finger on the tune, all I knew it was one of those viral videos a while ago so I went and did a google search “lord of the rings remix” and it was the first link that turned up - They’re Taking the Hobbits to Isengard by Erwin Beekveld. Then strangely enough, a minute later the scene turns up. Aragorn: “What do your elven eyes see?” Legolas: “The Uruks turn Northeast. They are taking the hobbits to Isengard!”. I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s a very silly movie.

Here’s the video:

Mark Frauenfelder has put together a singular post of his video picks from the past couple of years of Boing Boing. Highlights include the famous Bank of America’s employees’ cover of U2’s One (which came with a cease-and-desist letter from Universal, it’s since been removed from YouTube but you can still watch it here with commentary) and the much cooler cover by Johnny Marr and that guy from Arrested Development (which hasn’t been pulled from YouTube at the time of writing):

There’s also a link to 10 Zen Monkey’s post on subversive Christmas cartoon re-dubbed. This is just freaky:

Another cartoon mash-up, Pulp Xmas:

For fans of cheesy pop, Danielle Dax covers the Beatles’ Tomorrow Never Knows (if you’re not there’s some video of the Cowsills doing Folsom Prison Blues):

This piece of snow covered Moscow in 1908:

And the Scandinavian way (apparently!) of opening beer (they teach it to 12 year olds): link (YouTube embed was disabled, meanies!).

Finally, they did link to the wonderful zefrank whose site is a christmas present in itself (try out the singing elf card) and his silly Chrismas video.

I don’t know why I like machinima so much, must be that hole in my brain but this is quite funny not just by my low standards hopefully. It’s been made with captured footage from World of Warcraft, starring a Tauren (cattle humanoid) and a Troll.

Via Ikea Hacker, Toon Beerten has hacked an Ikea Mylonit table lamp into a super cool mood lamp. I love the video of it changing colours, maybe it’s the music in the background (Goldfrapp - Lovely Head - YouTube clip), I’ve just been playing it over and over again. If you are comfortable putting together programmed circuit boards, there are instructions. Otherwise, enjoy the video:

There’s been a lot of interest in t-shirt folding since the origami
t-shirt video was posted. I’ve watched it about twenty times and didn’t get it, so if you are like me, here are instructions in stills, a diagram and words.

So here’s another t-shirt video, this involves a super easy to make machine that guarantees perfect shirt folding to a tee… :-)

This guy swears he can’t play, he’s used video cuts to simulate it. I think he must have some musical talent though: Amateur

If you have a look at my Reading Now widget in the righthand column, you’ll notice a high proportion of vampire stuff at the moment (3 of 7 listed and another is a book on witches), so I guess I’m on a bit of a supernatural trip. Found this YouTube video today and I love it. It’s set to Rob Zombie’s Living Dead Girl which has the most hilarious lyrics. This makes the Underworld movies look so much better than they actually were and the song isn’t as stupid as it might have been on its own:
